Inner Ear and Dizziness Condition Services

At Spokane ENT, we provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), the most common cause of vertigo. BPPV occurs when calcium carbonate crystals (otoconia) become dislodged from the utricle and migrate into the semicircular canals, causing brief episodes of spinning vertigo triggered by head movements. Our team performs detailed evaluation including the Dix-Hallpike and roll tests to identify which canal is affected. We offer effective treatment using canalith repositioning maneuvers such as the Epley maneuver, which guides the crystals back to their proper location, providing rapid relief from vertigo symptoms.

We specialize in the diagnosis and management of Meniere's disease, a chronic inner ear disorder characterized by episodes of vertigo, fluctuating hearing loss, tinnitus, and aural fullness. Our team performs comprehensive evaluation including audiometric testing, vestibular function testing, and imaging studies to confirm the diagnosis and assess disease severity. We provide comprehensive management including dietary modifications (low-sodium diet), medical therapy with diuretics and vestibular suppressants, and when indicated, more advanced interventions such as intratympanic injections or surgical procedures. Our goal is to reduce the frequency and severity of vertigo attacks while preserving hearing function.

Our practice offers expert care for a wide range of other inner ear and dizziness conditions including chronic subjective dizziness (CSD) and persistent postural-perceptive dizziness (PPPD), migraine-associated vertigo, multifactorial dizziness, and superior semicircular canal dehiscence. We perform thorough evaluation to identify the underlying cause of dizziness and balance problems, utilizing advanced diagnostic testing including vestibular function studies, audiometry, and imaging. For conditions that are primarily otologic in nature, we provide comprehensive management including vestibular rehabilitation therapy, medical management, lifestyle modifications, and when appropriate, surgical interventions. For non-otologic conditions that cause dizziness, our providers provide expert consultation and advice to other specialists—including primary care physicians, physical therapists, neurologists, and psychiatrists—who have more expertise in managing these specific conditions, ensuring patients receive the most appropriate care from the most qualified providers.
